Frequently Asked Questions

How does live stream recording work?

The extension captures HLS or DASH stream segments in real-time as they are delivered to your browser. Segments are stored temporarily and merged into a single MP4 file when you stop recording.

Can I record any live stream?

You can record any live stream that uses HLS or DASH protocols and plays in your browser. DRM-protected streams (e.g., paid sports platforms with Widevine) cannot be recorded.

What quality will the recording be?

The recording captures whatever quality your browser is streaming. If the stream plays at 1080p, your recording will be 1080p.

Is there a time limit on recordings?

No. You can record for as long as the stream is live. Storage depends on your available disk space.

Will the streamer know I'm recording?

No. The extension captures the stream data already being delivered to your browser. It does not interact with the streaming server in any way.
